I’m currently travelling around Europe, and this blog is my way of preserving and sharing memories –
We photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing, and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth can make them come back again. We cannot develop and print a memory.
I’m not aiming to produce a portfolio of carefully edited and polished photographs, but rather to create a record of memories, and an outlet for creative expression.
The thing I love most about photography is composition – the moment when you line up your camera and adjust the angle until you’ve found the composition that speaks to you.
The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.
When I studied photography, my interest lay almost entirely in nature and landscape photography. My new favourite is architectural photography, given my current surroundings and interest in mediæval history.
My blog name comes from the book ‘Enchanted Glass’ by my favourite author – Diana Wynne Jones.
